Biography

GPA Laboratories, a Sonic Healthcare Anatomic Pathology Practice, is privileged to include John D. Patrick, M.D., as a member of its dynamic medical staff. Dr. Patrick has an extensive academic and medical professional background.

Dr. Patrick earned his Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the College of Charleston in South Carolina. Subsequently, he received his medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia while also serving a medical internship at the North Carolina Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem. He began his postgraduate training with an anatomic and clinical pathology residency also at the North Carolina Baptist Hospital.

Upon completion of his postgraduate training, Dr. Patrick began holding key positions in a variety of hospitals across North Carolina. He has served as medical director at the Moses Cone Memorial Hospital, the Cone Health Women’s Hospital, Annie Penn Hospital, and the MedCenter of High Point, in addition to his position as a staff pathologist with GPA Laboratories.

Over the years, Dr. Patrick has developed extensive professional experience. He holds medical research publications and articles in peer-reviewed medical journals. He is an active member of the American Medical Association, American Society for Clinical Pathology, College of American Pathologists, and the American Society of Cytopathology.

Dr. Patrick holds full medical licensure and is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology, and cytopathology.
