GPA Laboratories, a Sonic Healthcare anatomic pathology practice, is privileged to include Tara C. Rubinas, M.D., as a part of its dynamic medical staff. Dr. Rubinas is a board-certified pathologist and accomplished medical leader.

Dr. Rubinas graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Notre Dame in Notre Dame, Indiana. She earned her medical degree from the Stritch School of Medicine at Loyola University Chicago in Maywood, Illinois. She served her residency in pathology at the Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where she held the position of chief resident. She then completed a fellowship in surgical pathology at University of North Carolina Hospitals in Chapel Hill. In 2022, she earned a University of Path Informatics Certificate.

Dr. Rubinas started as an assistant professor of gastrointestinal and liver pathology at the University of North Carolina Hospitals. She subsequently took a position as a pathologist at Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington, North Carolina. While there, she held a number of leadership positions. She was the chair of the pathology department, the blood utilization committee, and co-chair of the cancer committee. She also served a term as vice chief of staff and chief of staff, also at Alamance Regional. She has extensive experience as a CLIA laboratory director. She held that position at Alamance Regional Clinical Laboratory and the Alamance Regional Pathology Laboratory. She is currently the CLIA laboratory director at Alamance Regional Cancer Center Laboratory, High Point Cancer Center Laboratory, and Wesley Long Cancer Center Laboratory.

Dr. Rubinas belongs to professional organizations such as the College of American Pathologists, Rodger Haggitt Gastrointestinal Pathology Society, and the Hans Popper Hepatopathology Society, among others.

Dr. Rubinas holds full medical licensure and is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology.
